The International Meditation Centre was founded by
Sayagyi U Ba Khin in Rangoon, Burma (Yangon, Myanmar) in 1952 to promote the practice of Buddhist Vipassana meditation.

The aim of Vipassana is to develop a calm mind, ultimately leading to the realisation of Nibbana.
The meditation courses are taught in ten-day residential retreats at Centres worldwide.
Since Sayagyi U Ba Khin’s demise in 1971, his leading disciple
Mother Sayamagyi has carried on the tradition.
She has taught meditation for more than fifty years and has established further International Meditation Centres worldwide.
